DMK Secretary Na. Karthik Appears in Coimbatore Court for Kalaignar Book Distribution Case

DMK Secretary Na. Karthik appeared in Coimbatore JM 1 Court on Saturday regarding a case filed in 2014. The case relates to alleged violence during the distribution of a book written by former CM Karunanidhi in Pappanaickenpalayam.


Coimbatore: DMK Secretary and former MLA Na. Karthik appeared before the Coimbatore JM 1 Court on Saturday (21.9.2024) morning in connection with a case filed against him in 2014. The case pertains to an incident that allegedly occurred during the distribution of a book titled "Oyyara Kondaiyam Thazhampoovam" written by former Chief Minister and DMK leader M. Karunanidhi.

The incident reportedly took place in Pappanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, where Karthik, in his capacity as the Coimbatore Urban District Secretary of DMK, was distributing the book to the public. According to the case, during the distribution, there were allegations of damage to an AIADMK office, its nameplate, and flag post, as well as claims of assault on AIADMK functionaries present at the location.



Karthik was accompanied by several DMK leaders and party functionaries, including V. Balasubramanian, a member of the DMK High-Level Executive Committee, and R. Manikandan, a member of the DMK General Committee. A large number of lawyers, including Augustus, P. Krishnamoorthy, Anbu Chezhiyan, Maruthu Pandiyan, and many others, were also present to show their support.



The court appearance saw the presence of numerous DMK office bearers, including ward secretaries and labor wing leaders. Notable among them were K.R. Raja, the Urban District Labor Wing President, and several ward secretaries such as Town P. Anandan, Narayanan, Vijayakumar, and Sabari Gopal.

As the case continues, it has drawn significant attention from DMK party members, highlighting the political tensions that often surround such incidents in Tamil Nadu.
