Coimbatore: Assam Youth Arrested with 2.77 Grams of Heroin Powder Near Thondamuthur

An Assam youth was arrested near Thondamuthur after police seized 2.77 grams of heroin powder during a routine check at a coconut water shop bus stop. The suspect was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.


Coimbatore: The Thondamuthur police received confidential information about the sale of heroin powder in the Thondamuthur area. Following this tip-off, the police intensified their surveillance in the region.

During a routine check at a coconut water shop bus stop near Thondamuthur, a team led by Thondamuthur Sub-Inspector Parthiban conducted searches. They noticed a young man behaving suspiciously and detained him for questioning.

The investigation revealed that the youth was Rafathul Islam (23) from Assam. Upon searching him, the police discovered heroin powder in his possession. The officers seized 2.77 grams of heroin powder from Rafathul Islam.

Following the seizure, Rafathul Islam was arrested yesterday (September 21). He was later produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. This incident has caused a stir in the Thondamuthur area.

The Thondamuthur police are continuing their investigation into this case. They are also working to uncover the network involved in the heroin powder trade.
