Residents of Vellalore Apartment Complex Petition for Permission to Pay Town Panchayat and Water Taxes

Residents of an apartment complex in Vellalore's 13th ward have petitioned the Coimbatore District Collector, seeking permission to pay town panchayat and water taxes directly, citing issues with existing housing associations.

Coimbatore: Residents of an apartment complex in Vellalore's 13th ward have submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector's office, requesting permission to pay town panchayat and water taxes directly to the authorities.

The petitioners, representing the residents of the apartment complex, stated that there are approximately 88 blocks with 2,816 houses in the area. They alleged that the six existing housing associations in the complex are not functioning properly, leading to various issues for the residents.

The residents, many of whom are daily wage workers, expressed their inability to pay monthly subscriptions to these associations. They have requested the authorities to dissolve the existing associations and allow the town panchayat or the municipal corporation to take over the maintenance work and water distribution in the complex.

In their petition, the residents emphasized the need for direct involvement of local government bodies in managing the apartment complex. They believe this move would address the ongoing issues and ensure better services for the residents, including proper maintenance and regular water supply.

The petition highlights the growing concerns among the apartment dwellers about the effectiveness of private housing associations in managing large residential complexes. The residents hope that their request will be considered favorably, paving the way for a more efficient and accountable system of residential management in Vellalore.
