Protest in Karamadai Against Police Raid on Tamizhar Desam Party Leader's House in Trichy

Demonstrators in Karamadai protested against the police raid on Tamizhar Desam Party state president K.K.S. Selvakumar's house in Trichy. The party accused the police of falsely labeling their leader as having a criminal background.

Coimbatore: Members of the Tamizhar Desam Party and Veera Mutharaiyar Munnetra Sangam held a protest in Karamadai, Coimbatore district, condemning the police raid conducted at the residence of K.K.S. Selvakumar, the state president of Tamizhar Desam Party and founder of Veera Mutharaiyar Munnetra Sangam, in Trichy.

The demonstration, which took place near the Karamadai car stand, was led by Kandiyur Murugesan, the Coimbatore district organizer of Veera Mutharaiyar Munnetra Sangam, and Coimbatore Murugesan, the district secretary of Tamizhar Desam Party.

Protesters raised slogans accusing the Trichy City Police of tarnishing the reputation of their community leader and social activist by leveling false charges against him. They alleged that the police were deliberately targeting their leader by adding his name to criminal cases and conducting raids on his residence.

Party officials pointed out that the Tamizhar Desam Party had aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition in the recently concluded parliamentary elections. They claimed that these actions by the police, including the raid and the inclusion of their leader's name in criminal cases, were planned and executed with the intention of targeting him due to this political alliance.

The demonstrators expressed their anger over what they perceive as a deliberate attempt by the police to malign their leader's image and demanded an end to such alleged harassment.
