Makkal Viduthalai Munnani Demands Recovery of 13 Lakh Acres of Panchami Lands in Tamil Nadu

Makkal Viduthalai Munnani held a rally and public meeting in Pollachi, demanding the recovery of Panchami lands in Tamil Nadu. State President Marimuthu urged the government to reclaim and distribute these lands to the poor.



Coimbatore: The Makkal Viduthalai Munnani organized a rally and public meeting for land rights recovery at Rajeswari Thidal on Pollachi-Palladam Road. The event was presided over by the city leader Joseph Stalin, with state president Marimuthu addressing the gathering.

Speaking to reporters, Marimuthu said, "Statistics show that there are 13 lakh acres of Panchami lands in Tamil Nadu. We have been consistently demanding that these lands be recovered and distributed to the poor, as the Dravidian rulers who have alternately governed Tamil Nadu for 50 years have failed to focus on this issue."



Marimuthu further stated, "Based on the principle that land belongs to the tiller and power to the worker, we demand that each family evicted from their land should be given two acres of land." He emphasized that despite 80 years of independence, many villages in Tamil Nadu still witness protests against practices like double tumbler system, separate cremation grounds, and temple entry restrictions. "The Tamil Nadu government's Social Welfare Department should pay attention to these issues and take action," Marimuthu urged.

The Makkal Viduthalai Munnani leader called for immediate measures to address social inequalities and land rights issues that persist in the state. He criticized the Dravidian parties for their failure to effectively tackle these long-standing problems and demanded swift action to reclaim and redistribute Panchami lands to the rightful beneficiaries.
