Four Tipper Lorries Seized for Illegal Mineral Transport to Kerala; Rs 3.25 Lakh Fine Imposed

Regional Transport Department officials seized four tipper lorries transporting mineral resources to Kerala without proper documentation. A fine of Rs 3.25 lakh was imposed during the operation near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.

Coimbatore: The Regional Transport Department officials have seized four tipper lorries and imposed a fine of Rs 3.25 lakh for illegally transporting mineral resources to Kerala without proper documentation and exceeding the government-stipulated load limits.

The action came following persistent complaints about quarries in Pollachi and Anamalai areas evading taxes and transporting minerals without proper documents and in excess of government-prescribed limits. Responding to these complaints, a team led by Chennai Joint Transport Commissioner Suresh and Pollachi Regional Transport Commissioner Nagarajan conducted surprise checks at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border areas including Gopalapuram and Govindapuram.

During the inspection, the officials seized four tipper lorries that were found transporting minerals without proper documentation, evading taxes, and carrying excess loads. A fine of Rs 3,21,000 was imposed on these vehicles. Joint Transport Commissioner Suresh warned that strict action would be taken against vehicles transporting mineral resources to neighboring states without adhering to government regulations.

The operation highlights the authorities' commitment to curbing illegal mineral transportation and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and load limits. This crackdown is expected to serve as a deterrent to other potential violators in the region.
