Coimbatore: The Idikkarai Village Cultural Group made history by presenting a spectacular performance of Valli Kummi dance combined with Kavadi dance for the first time in Idikkarai, Coimbatore. The event drew a large audience from surrounding areas who were thoroughly entertained by the traditional performances.

Valli Kummi, a traditional dance form of Tamil Nadu, has been gaining popularity across various districts. The inaugural Valli Kummi performance by the Idikkarai Village Cultural Group took place in Idikkarai, Coimbatore.

The cultural group was formed by the residents of Idikkarai village near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore.

More than 100 men and women from the community came together to create this group and have been practicing Valli Kummi dances on their own.

The debut performance was held in the Idikkarai area, featuring not only Valli Kummi but also other traditional dance forms such as Kavadiyattam, Kolattam, and Oyilattam. The highlight of the event was the unique combination of Valli Kummi with Kavadi dance, where over 60 women aged between 6 and 65 years danced to Murugan songs while carrying kavadi.
