Karpagam Academy to Host National-Level Hackathon and Expo on Assistive Technology

Karpagam Innovation and Incubation Council (KIIC) and KAHE's Department of Biomedical Engineering are organizing 'Impairathon', a national-level hackathon and expo on assistive technology, on October 8-9, 2024, at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: The Karpagam Innovation and Incubation Council (KIIC), in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE), is set to host a national-level hackathon and expo named 'Impairathon'. The event, focusing on assistive technology and special needs, will take place on October 8th and 9th, 2024, at KAHE's campus in Eachanari, Coimbatore.

Impairathon is a collaborative effort involving key partners such as the Commissionerate for the Welfare of Differently Abled (Government of Tamil Nadu), Startup TN, STPI, TANCAM, Karpagam Innovation Centre, Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu, Cognizant, Young Initiative Accessibility, Young Indians, and the Confederation of Indian Industry. The event aims to bring together innovators and entrepreneurs to raise awareness about the crucial role of assistive technology for differently abled individuals.



The ATA EXPO – 2024, running concurrently with Impairathon, will showcase a wide range of assistive technologies and accessibility devices. More than 35 companies from across India are expected to participate, promoting innovation and collaboration in the field of assistive technology.



A highlight of the event will be the grand finale of a national hackathon. Out of 295 ideas submitted from all over India, 25 have been shortlisted for the final round, demonstrating the creativity and dedication of participants in developing innovative solutions for assistive technology.



The event will also feature an investor connect session, providing a platform for innovators to present their ideas to potential investors. Additionally, inclusive awards will be presented to educational institutions and companies committed to promoting accessibility and employability of differently abled persons.



Impairathon seeks to foster creativity and collaboration, empowering participants to develop impactful solutions that enhance accessibility and improve the quality of life for all. The event is expected to drive significant advancements in the field of assistive technology.
