AIADMK Manifesto Promises Solar Power Subsidies and Incentives, Industry Welcomes Announcement

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Solar Power Producers Association and industry stakeholders have welcomed AIADMK's election manifesto announcements regarding subsidies and incentives for solar power generation projects. The manifesto promises network charge abolition and encourages self-sufficient electricity production for industries.

Coimbatore: Industry stakeholders have welcomed the AIADMK election manifesto announcements related to solar energy and the electricity sector. Particularly, the announcement of providing subsidies for rooftop solar power generation projects has received positive reception among entrepreneurs.

Shasta Raja, Treasurer of the Tamil Nadu Solar Power Producers Association, commented on this: "In the entire country, only in Tamil Nadu are network charges levied on rooftop solar power generation projects. While central and state governments are taking joint action in various states to encourage renewable energy sector projects, the collection of network charges in Tamil Nadu is equivalent to imposing a penalty."

While waiting for various electricity sector-related demands in political parties' election manifestos, AIADMK's manifesto has included significant announcements. The manifesto states that subsidies of Rs 30,000 per kilowatt and Rs 60,000 for 2 kilowatts will bel provided for installing solar panels for rooftop solar electricity generation in homes.

Additionally, it has been stated that quick approvals will be granted for non-conventional energy production like solar power, and steps will be taken to increase electricity generation. It has also been announced that measures will be taken to start new power generation stations like hydel and thermal power plants.

Specifically, the fixed charges imposed by the electricity board on micro and small industries will be regulated. It has been announced that the tariff rate for industries will be restructured without affecting entrepreneurs. Various announcements have been made, including the provision of additional subsidies to encourage micro and small industries in Tamil Nadu to produce and use solar electricity for their power needs.

"It is very welcome that the key demands related to the electricity sector have been included in the AIADMK election manifesto," said Shasta Raja, Treasurer of the Tamil Nadu Solar Power Producers Association.
