Campaigning for NDA candidate Vanathi Srinivasan in Coimbatore North, BJP State Vice President Khushbu Sundar launched a sharp attack on the DMK government, alleging rising concerns over women’s safety, drug abuse among youth, and disrespectful remarks against women by ministers.
Coimbatore: BJP State Vice President and actress Khushbu Sundar on Friday campaigned in support of NDA candidate Vanathi Srinivasan in the Coimbatore North Assembly constituency, covering areas including Venkittapuram and Kovilmedu.
Addressing the public during the campaign, Khushbu strongly criticised the ruling DMK government and raised concerns over the current law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. She alleged that women in the state no longer feel safe and are being forced to carry pepper spray while stepping out.
She further claimed that Tamil Nadu was slipping into a “drug culture,” pointing to alleged substance abuse among school and college students. “It is worrying to see where the state is heading,” she said.
Khushbu also accused certain DMK ministers of making derogatory remarks about women. Referring to comments on the free bus travel scheme and the ₹1,000 monthly assistance scheme for women, she alleged that such statements insult the dignity and self-respect of women.
Praising former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa as a symbol of courage, she said Tamil Nadu remained safe during the tenure of Edappadi K. Palaniswami. She hailedVanathi Srinivasan as a bold voice for women and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for measures such as 33% reservation for women.
