SP Velumani campaigns for AIADMK candidate; says DMK stalled Valparai tourism initiatives.

Former Minister SP Velumani campaigned in support of AIADMK candidate Lakshman Singh in Valparai constituency and assured that welfare schemes launched during the previous AIADMK regime would be revived if the party returns to power.

Valparai: With only two days left for the elections, political parties have intensified campaigning across the constituencies. As part of the ongoing campaign, former Minister SP Velumani canvassed votes in support of AIADMK candidate Lakshman Singh who is contesting in Valparai.

Earlier, he led a procession along with alliance party cadres from the Anna statue area and later addressed a public meeting near the Gandhi statue premises.

Speaking at the meeting, SP Velumani said, “Lakshman Singh is a good man and a native of Valparai. He is currently running a school in Kinathukadavu and is an educationist.”

He further alleged that several projects brought to Valparai during the Edappadi K. Palaniswami government had remained stalled for the past five years. He cited Amma Unavagam, Amma Boathouse and Amma Botanical Park among the projects that were not functioning.

“If AIADMK returns to power, all these schemes will be revived and houses will be provided to those without homes,” he said.

Criticising the law and order situation in the state, he said women’s safety must be ensured and called for a change in government.

He also demanded the withdrawal of the e-pass system, stating that it had affected tourism and the livelihood of traders in Valparai. He added that wages for workers would be increased.

Appealing to voters, he urged the public to vote for the Two Leaves symbol and ensure the victory of AIADMK candidate Lakshman Singh.
