TN Elections 2026 Polling Begins in Coimbatore: Citizens Vote with Enthusiasm

Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026 polling commenced peacefully across Coimbatore district from 7 AM today. Voters are enthusiastically turning up at polling stations to exercise their franchise in a calm atmosphere.


Coimbatore: Polling for the Tamil Nadu Assembly General Election 2026 began peacefully across Coimbatore district from 7 AM today and is progressing smoothly. Voting will continue until 6 PM this evening.

The 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district have a total of 27,44,472 voters. This includes 13,22,759 male voters, 14,21,179 female voters, and 534 other voters. A total of 3,540 polling stations have been set up across the district.

Each constituency has one model polling station, one polling station managed entirely by women, and one polling station managed by youth.

As part of security measures, 182 polling stations have been identified as sensitive and Central security forces have been deployed there. Additionally, web cameras with online live streaming facilities have been installed at several locations. Video cameras and micro-observers have been deployed at 70 polling stations.

A total of 16,992 polling officers, 165 micro-observers, and 6,240 police personnel have been deployed for election duty. All polling stations have been equipped with basic facilities, and free vehicle facilities have been arranged for differently-abled persons and senior citizens. For this purpose, a total of 39 vehicles have been kept ready, with at least 3 vehicles per constituency.

Meanwhile, this morning, Tamil Nadu Minorities Commission member Haji Mohamed Rafiq cast his vote at a school in Sai Baba Colony and fulfilled his democratic duty.

The district administration has stated that all arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful and transparent polling in Coimbatore district. Voters have been requested to exercise their franchise without any fear.
