Masked burglars flee after breaking door in Kottappulipalaiyam village

Masked burglars attempted a break-in at Nachimuththu's house in Kottappulipalaiyam village near Dharapuram on Tuesday evening. The intruders fled when neighbours heard suspicious sounds. Police are investigating the incident while residents demand improved night patrolling in the area.

Coimbatore: A house break-in attempt by masked burglars in Kottappulipalaiyam village near Dharapuram has left residents shocked and demanding better police patrolling in the area.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at around 7 PM at the residence of Nachimuththu, aged 45, who works with the Electricity Board in Thalavaipattinam village. Nachimuththu lives in Kottappulipalaiyam village under Kaundachiputhur Panchayat with his wife Kausalya, aged 40, and their 19-year-old daughter Kavika Sri.

When Nachimuththu locked his house and went to a nearby Vinayagar temple for prayers, masked burglars broke open the front door and entered the premises. The intruders were in the process of breaking open the bureau and locker inside the house when a neighbour living at the rear side of the property heard unusual sounds.

Upon investigation, the neighbour spotted the masked individuals attempting the burglary. Realizing they had been discovered, the masked burglars immediately fled the scene. The neighbour promptly informed Nachimuththu about the incident through a phone call.

Nachimuththu and Kausalya rushed back home to find the front door broken and the bureau inside damaged. The masked burglars had clearly attempted to loot valuables from their residence.

Based on the complaint, Dharapuram Police Inspector Ramachandran and the crime branch officers rushed to the spot and collected evidence left behind by the masked burglars. They have launched an investigation into the incident.

Kongu Ramesh, a relative of Nachimuththu, raised serious concerns about police patrolling in the area. He alleged that police do not conduct proper night patrol duty in Dharapuram town and surrounding areas, leading to frequent theft attempts and burglaries in the region.

"Due to inadequate night patrolling, such theft incidents and attempts are becoming increasingly common in areas around Dharapuram. We request the police to conduct proper night patrol duties and apprehend the masked burglars involved in this incident," Ramesh said.

This incident comes months after masked burglars attacked an elderly person and robbed money and jewellery on Thottam Road near Govindapuram, raising further concerns about security in the region.
