Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran has ordered construction companies and residents associations to immediately remove encroachments made on public spaces, parks and roads. He warned that the corporation will remove them and recover costs if not complied with voluntarily.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran has issued a stern warning to remove encroachments made on public spaces. He has instructed that encroachments made without permission on public spaces, parks and roads handed over to the corporation must be removed immediately.

It has come to light that construction companies and residents associations have encroached upon public spaces by erecting wire fences in housing layouts approved by the Town Planning Department. The Commissioner has requested that these be removed immediately.

He warned that if encroachments are not removed, the corporation itself will take action and remove them, and steps will be taken to recover the expenses from the concerned individuals. He assured that the recovered public spaces will be made available for public use.

Corporation sources stated that this action is being taken for the welfare of the public and to reclaim spaces allocated for their use. The encroachment removal drive is expected to be undertaken soon across all areas within Coimbatore Corporation limits.
