Azhiyar Dam Water Level Rises to 65.4 Feet

The water level at Azhiyar Dam in Anaimalai has reached 65.4 feet as of May 26. Following rainfall in the catchment areas, the dam is recording an inflow of 237 cubic feet per second, with water being released for irrigation purposes.


Coimbatore: The water level at Azhiyar Dam near Anaimalai has been recorded at 65.4 feet as of May 26. The dam, which has a total storage capacity of 120 feet, has witnessed a rise in water level following recent rainfall in its catchment areas.

The dam is currently receiving an inflow of 237 cubic feet per second. Dam authorities have stated that 186 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the reservoir for various purposes including irrigation.

Officials have indicated that if rainfall continues in the catchment areas, the water level in the dam is expected to rise further. The controlled water release will continue to meet irrigation requirements for farmers in the region.

The Azhiyar Dam serves as a crucial water source for agricultural activities in the Anaimalai region. Authorities are closely monitoring the water levels and inflow patterns to ensure optimal water management and distribution to beneficiaries downstream.
