Two unidentified persons allegedly hurled a petrol bomb at the residence of a restaurateur from Vettaikaranpudur near Pollachi, who owns a chain of restaurants, before fleeing the scene. Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
Coimbatore: Police have launched an investigation after two unidentified persons allegedly hurled a petrol bomb at the residence of a prominent hotel owner in Vettaikaranpudur near Pollachi on Wednesday night.
According to police, Solomon, a resident of Ashok Nagar in Vettaikaranpudur near Anaimalai, owns around 20 hotels operating in Pollachi, Anaimalai and Aliyar. He also serves as the chairman of the property protection committee of the TELC Church.
Police said two helmet-clad men arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly hurled a glass bottle filled with petrol, at the front of Solomon's house.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours raised an alarm, following which the two suspects fled the spot on their motorcycle.
Based on a complaint lodged by Solomon, the Anaimalai Police have registered a case and commenced an investigation.
A special team led by Valparai Sub-Divisional Deputy Superintendent of Police Pavithra, along with Anaimalai Inspector Sathiyaselan, is examining CCTV footage collected from the area to identify and trace the suspects.
Further investigation is under way.
