Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 43.87 Feet; Thirumoorthy Dam Records 35.02 Feet

The water level at Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur district has risen to 43.87 feet on August 5 with continuous inflow of 907 cubic feet per second. Thirumoorthy Dam's water level stands at 35.02 feet, Water Resources Department officials reported on Tuesday.


Coimbatore: Water Resources Department officials have released the water level status of Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams located in Tiruppur district on August 5.




The Amaravathi Dam, which has a total storage capacity of 90 feet, has been receiving continuous inflow from its catchment areas. As per the latest update on August 5, the dam's water level has increased to 43.87 feet. The inflow to the dam has been recorded at 907 cubic feet per second, Water Resources Department officials confirmed.




Similarly, the Thirumoorthy Dam, located near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district with a total capacity of 60 feet, has recorded a water level of 35.02 feet as of August 5. The authorities are currently releasing 21 cubic feet of water from this reservoir, according to Water Resources Department officials.




Due to the continuous inflow to both dams during the southwest monsoon season, farmers and the general public have expressed their satisfaction. The water levels in both reservoirs are expected to rise further in the coming days, bringing relief to the agricultural community dependent on these water sources for irrigation purposes.
