Man Stabbed to Death Near Noyyal River in Coimbatore; Two Accused Arrested

A 35-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following a previous quarrel near the Noyyal River at Ramachiyampalayam in Coimbatore district. K.M. Patty police secured two men in connection with the murder and are conducting further investigation.

Coimbatore: A thirty-five-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following a quarrel over an earlier dispute near the Noyyal river at Ramachiyampalayam, within the limits of the K.M. Patty police station, on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Devadass, a native of Salem who was residing at Karanampettai in Palladam.

According to the police, Devadass and Ranjith, a resident of Ramachiyampalayam, had quarrelled about a month ago. On Wednesday afternoon, Ranjith and his friend Ashok allegedly saw Devadass at a TASMAC outlet near Ramachiyampalayam and followed him towards the Noyyal river.

The two allegedly confronted Devadass over the earlier dispute. During the altercation, Ranjith allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife. Ashok is also alleged to have attacked Devadass with the same weapon.

Devadass sustained severe injuries and died at the spot.

On being alerted, K.M. Patty police launched a search for the two suspects. Based on information that they were hiding in a wooded area near a church at Karumathampatti Pudur, a police team reached the spot and secured them.

The two were brought to the police station and are being questioned. The body was sent to the Government ESI Medical College Hospital, Singanallur, in Coimbatore, for post-mortem examination.

The Inspector of Police, K.M. Patty police station, is conducting the investigation. Further inquiries are under way.
