An AR/VR virtual laboratory at Masakkalipalayam Corporation Middle School in Coimbatore has benefited 544 students over the past three months. The facility enables students to understand complex concepts in science, mathematics and social science through immersive, three-dimensional learning.

Coimbatore: For students at Masakkalipalayam Corporation Middle School, lessons are no longer confined to textbooks and blackboards. An AR/VR virtual laboratory at the school is giving children an opportunity to explore subjects through immersive, three-dimensional experiences, with 544 students benefiting from the facility over the past three months.

The facility, which has been operational since February 24, caters to students from Classes 1 to 8 through rotational sessions. It introduces concepts in science, mathematics, social science and other subjects in a more visual and interactive format, helping students understand complex topics through virtual experiences.

The response has been steady, with the laboratory conducting 45 sessions in June, 52 in July and 35 in August. Teachers use smart displays, VR headsets and controllers to make lessons more engaging, while the equipment is regularly cleaned and maintained under supervision.

The Corporation has also created two new classrooms along with the high-quality virtual laboratory as part of its efforts to strengthen modern learning facilities at the school. With technology becoming an integral part of education, the initiative is giving Corporation school students greater exposure to digital and immersive learning within their everyday classroom environment.
