Coimbatore corporation Mayor Inspects Semmozhi Poonga Facilities

Coimbatore Corporation Mayor K Ranganayaki Ramachandran conducted a detailed inspection of Semmozhip Poonga in the Central Zone, reviewing facilities including the rose garden, museum, and convention hall, and directed officials to repair identified defects immediately.

Coimbatore: Mayor K Ranganayaki Ramachandran today (03.09.2026) conducted a comprehensive inspection of Semmozhip Poonga located in the Central Zone of Coimbatore Corporation, reviewing various facilities and infrastructure at the popular public park.

The Mayor visited the Semmozhip Poonga complex in Ward No. 67, which houses world-class modern amenities including a rose garden, women's market, stone sculptures, a Government Archaeological Museum displaying artifacts used by ancient Tamils, reading rooms, and children's play area. She personally inspected each facility to assess their current condition and maintenance status.

During the inspection, Mayor Ranganayaki Ramachandran reviewed the attendance registers of employees working at Semmozhip Poonga and the entry registers maintained for visitors. After identifying minor defects in various sections, she immediately instructed officials to carry out necessary repairs without delay.

Subsequently, the Mayor examined several other amenities within the Semmozhip Poonga complex, including the purified drinking water supply system, paid children's play area, open-air gymnasium, artificial waterfall section, paid fitness center, and the CCTV surveillance control room that monitors the entire premises through camera systems.

Mayor Ranganayaki Ramachandran also inspected the ongoing construction of the Convention Hall being built at an estimated cost of Rs 27 crore within the Semmozhip Poonga complex. She directed the concerned officials to expedite the construction work to ensure timely completion of this significant civic infrastructure project.

The inspection was attended by Executive Engineer Jegan, Assistant Executive Engineer Saravanakumar (Public Works), and several staff members of Semmozhip Poonga, along with other officials from the Corporation.
