Coimbatore Mayor Ranganayaki inspected development works worth Rs 11.87 crore across the Coimbatore Corporation's West Zone on September 24, 2026. She reviewed a Rs 40 lakh stormwater drain project in Vadavalli's Mullai Nagar (Ward 36), a Rs 9.90 crore Para Olympic indoor sports complex and a Rs 157 crore urban wellness centre under the 15th Central Finance Commission scheme in Gounthampalayam's Jeeva Nagar (Ward 33), the Chief Minister's library there, and underground sewerage works and a women's park in Veerakeralam and Siruvani Main Road area (Ward 40), directing officials to speed up all works.

The Mayor conducted the inspection on September 24, 2026, visiting multiple project sites in the zone. She first inspected stormwater drain works being carried out under Ward 36 in Vadavalli's Mullai Nagar area, funded through the Corporation's general fund at an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh, and instructed officials to complete the works quickly.
Following this, the Mayor visited Ward 33's Gounthampalayam Jeeva Nagar area, where she inspected the construction of a world-class Para Olympic indoor multi-sports complex being built under the Corporation's education fund at an estimated cost of Rs 9.90 crore, intended for use by para-athletes (Paralympic sportsmen and sportswomen). In the same area, she also inspected the construction of an urban wellness centre being built under the 15th Central Finance Commission (CFC) scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 157 crore, and directed the officials concerned to speed up the construction works.
The Mayor also reviewed the functioning of the Chief Minister's library located in Gounthampalayam Jeeva Nagar, examining the visitor attendance registers maintained there. Acceding to a request from students in the area, she instructed officials to take necessary steps to open the library early in the morning so that youngsters could make use of it.
Earlier, the Mayor inspected the underground sewerage scheme works underway in the Veerakeralam and Siruvani Main Road area under Ward 40, along with the Veerakeralam Women's Park, and instructed officials to maintain the park properly.
West Zone Chairperson K.A. Deivayanai Tamilmarai, Assistant Commissioner Narmadha, Executive Engineer Jegan, Assistant Executive Engineer Savitha, council member Krishnamoorthy, Zonal Health Officer Radhakrishnan, Assistant Engineers Vimala, Subasri and Karthikeyan (P), Health Inspector Ramesh, and several other Corporation officials were present during the inspections.
