Bizman found murdered on his farmland near Negamam

A 60-year-old businessman from Chokkampudur near Selvapuram was hacked to death. His body was found at his farm land in Kappalankarai village near Negamam here early Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as P Nagaraj from Shanmuga Nagar at Chokkampudur in Coimbatore city. Police said that he was engaged in the chemical supply industry pertaining to dyeing units. He also ran a firm, Mahalakshmi Chemicals, at Balaji Nagar in Chokkampudur.

Police said, he had bought 4.5 acres of agriculture land in Kappalankarai village eight years ago. He built a small concrete structure on the land where he reared three cows. M Karuppusamy, from Vinayakar Temple Street at Palaiyur village near Udumalpet, was appointed to maintain the farm land for four months ago.

Nagaraj lived with his wife N Pramila at Chokkampudur and the couple have three children. Karuppusamy was off for three days from Monday. With his help gone, Nagaraj visited the farm land at 10am on Monday.

The same evening, his son N Vignesh spoke with him over mobile phone. Nagaraj told his son that he was going to the Aavin milk collection centre.

At 7am on Tuesday, Vignesh called his father but there was no response. So, he informed his colleague Krishnasamy to visit the farm and check on his father Nagaraj. When he visited the farm land, he found Nagaraj in a pool of blood.

His scooter was found in an isolated place. Two cut injuries were found right of his navel. Krishnasamy informed Negamam police who rushed to the spot.

The district superintendent of police, R V Ramya Bharati and Pollachi Sub-division DSP T Charles rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene. Sniffer dog and forensic experts were pressed into service.

Police said, they are yet to get any clues to crack the case. The body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Police believe that he was waylaid by a gang and was hacked to death with deadly weapons.

Three special police teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
