Corporation schools fare well in exam

Schools run by the Coimbatore Corporation too have seen an improvement in Class X performance. A release from the civic body said that 91.64 per cent of the 2,129 students who sat for the exam this March-April cleared the examination.

The pass percentage this year is marginally more than last year’s 91.29.

The release said that A. Kirubavathi of the R.S. Puram (West) Corporation Girls’ Hr. Sec. School stood first among the Corporation school students scoring 495 out of 500.

Centum

The girl had centum in Maths and Social Science, 99 in science and 98 each in Tamil and English.

Her schoolmate K. Sri Suganya and S.R.P. Ammani Ammal Corporation Girls’ Hr. Sec. School student S. Kamini shared the second spot scoring 490 out of 500. The third went to M. Vibisha of the SRP Ammani Ammal School for 488 marks.

Pass percentage

The Corporation release also said that its schools in Ramakrishnapuram, SRP Ammani Ammal, Siddhapudur, Selvapuram and Ramalingam Colony had achieved cent per cent pass percentage.

The Udayampalayam School had 98.44 pass percentage and the Kovilmedu School 98.33.

Mayor P. Rajkumar and Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan congratulated the students.

Arrears

In the Coimbatore Central Prison, 53 inmates appeared for the Class X exam for the first time and of those 46 cleared it.

Muniyandi and Tamil Alagan top scored with 346 marks. Nawab Khan was placed second with 344 marks.

Of the eight prisoners who wrote arrear examinations, four cleared, said a release.
