Corporation Engineers get trained to prioritise projects

A training program conducted by Cities Development Initiatives for Asia in association with Asian Development Bank on Wednesday trained City Corporation Engineers on how to prioritise various projects. The training also highlighted the various funding agencies available to implement high budget infrastructure projects.

This training program helps engineers to identify and prioritise projects based on necessity and scientifically guide them to get it implemented efficiently. It contains a tool-kit software in which the officials will answer 10-15 questions based on their experience and the need of the residents.

The team has conducted a two-month study which identified 130 projects which needed priority and if it is completed efficiently, will benefit the city for the next decade. Out of these 130 projects, 15 were used for this training program.

Each of these projects will be evaluated to ascertain feasibility and these factors will enable the engineers to prioritise them. For each of these factors there will 10-15 question that an engineer has to answer in the software and after that is done, the software will guide them through scientific calculation as to which projects have to prioritise.

The city engineers would sure be benefited through these evaluation tools and awareness of funding agencies at both the national and international level.

The organisation has held this training in Rajkot, Tirupathi, Simla, Puri, Vishakapattinam and Indore. In Tamil Nadu, it will be held in Tirupur, Erode, and Salem this month.
