Coimbatore and Nilgiris drenched in rain

Finally, Coimbatore and Nilgiris get its share of South West Monsoon. On Friday, many parts of Nilgiris and Coimbatore received heavy rainfall giving a much-needed relief.

In Coimbatore the areas which recorded rainfalls were Mettuppalayam 1.4mm, Periyanaickenpalayam 1, TNAU 3.4, Chincona 30, Valparai PAP 26, Valparai taluk 30, and Coimbatore South 2mm with the average rainfall of 11.48mm.

The rainfall recorded in various areas of Nilgiris is as follows Upper Bhavani 25mm, Naduvattam 24, Avalanche 23, G Bazaar 11, K Bridge 12, Udhagamandalam 5.20, Kotagiri 7, Coonoor 2.40, Emerald 14, Geddai 8, Kinnakorai and Kodanadu 6 each, and Devala 6mm with the average rainfall at 9.45mm. Though the rainfall disappointed a lot of tourists who had thronged Ooty but it would have been a relief to farmers.
