Elephant injured at Hosur, dies at Mudumalai

The 10 year old elephant which was knocked by a government bus near Hosur died on Wednesday at 12.30 pm at Theppakadu.

The elephant was shifted to the Theppakadu elephant camp located at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve for further treatment.

The initial postmortem revealed that the pachyderm died due to traumatic shock resulting to organ failure. The carcass was buried at Mudumalai after collecting the body parts for detailed autopsy at Chennai. 

'Lack of advanced medical care at Mudumalai has led to its demise, instead the officials should have planned to shift the injured elephant to Chennai Vandalur Zoo', claimed wildlife enthusiasts.
