Naam Tamizhar activists lodge their firm support for Thiruvalluvar statue installation

On 29th June, Uttarakhand Chief Minister organised an event to unveil the statue of Thiruvalluvar at the State Guest House, Haridwar. However, the governor of the state and the chief minister himself did not participate in the event after several controversies were raised by the local members of various religious fraternity regarding the statue installation at Haridwar. The 12 feet statue to be installed was carved out of a 10.5 ton from Kolli Hills, by a expertise crew of 20 members.

Amidst the opposition, the unveiling event took place in the presence of other State Governors, Santhil Tudaiman, Srilankan Minister, IAS Officers and members of Gayathri parivar. Harish Rawant, CM of the state expressed his gratitude to Tarun Vijay, BJP Rajya Sabha MP for his financial support and also applauded him for his commendable initiative to install Thiruvalluvar Statue all over the states in India as a symbol of diversity and equality.

Today, the activists of Naam Tamizhar Party hosted a protest in front of the Red Cross building at Coimbatore, condemning the derogatory remarks made by the religious fraternities at Uttarakhand on installation of Thiruvalluvar Statue.

The activists wore masks of the great poet and also engaged in distributing the remarkable 'Thirukkural' books to the commuters and pedestrians. The protest gained importance as Thiruvalluvar is seen as a great scholar and philosopher by every tamilian, who hold great respect towards each and every Kural proposed by Valluvar.
