9 militants killed in police raid in Dhaka


Nine militants were killed in an ongoing gunbattle between police and militant group in Kalyanpur area of Dhaka today, police sources said.

According to Mirpur Police Station OC, Mahbub Hossain, nine suspected Islamic militants were killed in a raid in a five-storey building that was conducted today morning.

Metropolitan Police official Sheikh Muhammad Maruf Hasan said another man was arrested and is being treated for injuries in a hospital.

"All of them belong to a militant group but it is still not clear which group they are," a police official said.

Several militants were arrested in recent days, in an attempt to hunt those involved in the Dhaka attack, in which 22 people were killed.
