Coimbatore Farmers plea to curb sand mining across water beds

Tamil Nadu Farmers Association filed a petition today at the Collectorate concerning illegal sand smuggling around the lakes in Coimbatore.

The President of Coimbatore Chapter along with the farmers petitioned that illegal sand mining across the rivers beds of Noyyal and Kowsika pose a serious threat to depletion of natural resources, which in turn adversely affects agriculture.

They strongly insisted that the authorities of PWD and Geology & Mining department should necessitate stern action against these lawbreakers and ensure prosperity of agriculture and allied resources.
