Heavy rainfall likely in Odisha due to low pressure

A fresh spell of heavy rainfall is likely to lash some areas of interior Odisha during the next 24 hours due to a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, IMD said today.

Under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation over the West-Central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast, a low pressure area has formed over West-Central Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh Coast at 08:30 hours today, it said.

The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels tilting Southwestwards with height.

Under its impact, rain or thundershower is likely to occur in many places in Odisha during the next 24 hours.

The system is also likely to trigger heavy rainfall in one or two places in districts of the interior part of the state during the next 24 hours, the IMD said.
