Radio City 91.1 FM celebrates with one of a kind 'Green Golu' this Navrathri

Standing tall at 23-feet, this one claims to be one of the tallest golu displays in our city. It comes with a twist though. The traditional dolls and characters that are a part of every golu display have been replaced with saplings. Rightly called the Green Golu, several saplings that have been donated by kind Samaritans from our city have made their way to this golu display. This is a part of the unique "Green Golu" which is an initiative of radio station Radio City 91.1 FM.

Until Navratri this space where the Green Golu has been displayed will also double up as the studio. RJ Dongry David will host his evening show from this venue all through this festive season.

We are told that people from all walks of life have contributed a plethora of saplings including neem, amla, tamarind among others. All of them have been neatly displayed. This is the third consecutive year that the Radio City 91.1 FM team is hosting Golu. The response we are told has been encouraging every year. But this year has been unique and this is the first time Green Saplings have been used to celebrate Golu. This new twist in celebration adds new value to traditionally celebrated festivals like Navrathri.

Announcements are made courtesy the team of RJs of Radio City 91.1 FM Coimbatore. Listeners are invited to contribute a sapling of their choice and each sapling will be made a part of the Green Golu. Radio City 91.1 FM will continue collecting saplings till Navratri concludes, October 10.

And it does not stop with just collecting and having the saplings displayed. The Radio City 91.1 FM team also has plans of planting the saplings post this festive season. All this we are told is to improve the green cover of our city. Right now the Radio City 91.1 FM team is identifying the right place to have the saplings planted. Once they are planted the team of RJs will also nurture the saplings.

Individuals, families, students, professionals, educational institutions, apartment associations, corporate, retired, NGOs and all those who wish to make a contribution towards this cause can do so. Radio City 91.1 FM can be reached at +91 422 663 9911
