City to receive 343mm of rainfall during this Northeast monsoon TNAU shares


Agro Climate Research Centre, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has released district wise data on the predicted amount of rainfall that Tamil Nadu will receive during the upcoming Northeast monsoon this year. It is predicted that for the ensuing October to December monsoon, Coimbatore will receive 343mm of rainfall against the nominal amount of 328mm of rainfall that the city should receive during this period.

A press release from the Agro Climate Research Centre also stated that district level rainfall forecast for the forthcoming Northeast monsoon, over Tamil Nadu was developed at Agro Climate Research Centre, TNAU. Based on the Southern Oscillation Index of summer season and sea surface temperature values of Pacific and Indian Oceans using Australian Rainman International V.4.3.Software, the figures are predicted. 

In the North Eastern zone, it is predicted that Chennai will receive the maximum amount of rainfall 731mm against 788mm which is the normal amount of rainfall for this region. Dharmapuri in the North Western zone is expected to receive 355mm of rainfall against 329mm which is the normal rainfall that this region has to receive. Similarly, in the Cauvery delta zone, Ariyalur will receive the maximum amount of rainfall, 520mm against the normal amount of 544mm for this region. Dindigul, which is a part of the Southern zone is expected to receive 437mm against the normal amount of 435mm of rainfall for this region. The Nilgiris which is a part of the hilly zone will receive 474mm against the normal 476mm that region should receive. It is predicted that Kanyakumari which falls under the high rainfall zone will receive 509mm of rainfall against the 495mm rainfall which is the normal amount of rainfall that this region should receive.
