Rally to celebrate International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction

Annually October 13 is celebrated as International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction. The aim of observing this day is to create awareness among people on how they can protect themselves from the natural and man-made disasters like fire, floods, landslides, and fire accidents. Ahead of the monsoon season, people must be prepared to face natural and man-made calamities of any kind.

In a bid to spread awareness about disaster management and ways to deal with disaster, awareness programmes were hosted in our city. T.N.Hariharan, Coimbatore collector flagged off a rally on as part of the International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction celebrations.

Over 500 school students participated in this awareness rally. They carried placards with slogans on creating awareness about disaster management. Collector’s office was the start point of this rally. Participants walked through important streets and reached VOC park.

District revenue officer Mr. T. Christhu Raj, Collector (Trainee) Ms. Priyanka IAS, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency Rupan Shankar Raj, Revenue Thasildar Mr. Suresh, Personal Assistant to Collector Mr. Chidambaram also participated in the rally.
