Registration mandatory for sale of fire crackers

Additional Chief Secretary of sales tax department in our city has issued a notification about the procedures that need to be followed by traders selling fire crackers. Each year traders purchase fire crackers from various sources for sales ahead of the festive season. Traders who wish to sell fire crackers must register with the Sales Tax department under the Tamil Nadu Value Added Tax.

All traders who wish to sell crackers should possess the list of various sources from where their stock is purchased. The same must be produced to the customer when demanded. The traders should also submit records of their purchase and sales and should make the tax payment as per the procedure. Help desks at all the district headquarters have been created to ensure that the traders get the certificate of registration. Traders can receive the certificate of registration directly at these counters by submitting the required documents.” said this official.
