Burglars on a prowl in the city, 25 sovereign worth of gold ornaments missing.

In recent days, the burglary, thefts and chain-snatching incidents are at an all time high in the city. Inspite of increased patrols, the city police are yet to control the house-break ins and thefts. Most of the robbed buildings had remained locked during the weekends, says report.

Two burglary incidents have been reported in the city, today. Sudhakaran, a resident of Anna Nagar, Irugur is an employee of a leading publication in the city. He was away with his family on  a small tour to spend the weekend. Today morning, when Sudhakaran returned home he was shocked to notice his house front doors forced open.  On scrutiny, he found that gold ornaments worth 10 sovereign had gone missing from his cupboard. He escalated the burglary incident to the Police and has registered a case with the Singanallur police station.

In yet another incident, Velusamy (86) a resident of K K Pudur had left to Sengottai with his family on the 19th of this month.  A couple of days after he left, his neighbours noticed that Velusamy's house was forced broken. They immediately alerted Velusamy on the incident, who rushed to the city on the same day. He noticed that 15 sovereigns of gold had gone missing from his home. Velusamy filed a complaint with the Saibaba Colony police station. A search is on to nab the culprits.

However, increased number of robberies especially in locked houses is also due to the carelessness on the part of residents, as they keep jewels and cash at the house while they are off from their houses. As informed earlier, the public while they are away for vacations should inform the jurisdictional police stations about their period of absence. Such action from the public's part would reduce such incidents and lose of valuables.
