Senior citizen Valliammai (61) is married to Sokkalingam and the couple stay at Ganapathypalayam in Coimbatore. She was standing outside her home on Monday. Two men on a motorcycle with the intention of identifying an address started a conversation with her. While Valliammai was explaining how to get to the location, one of the men on the motorcycle snatched the gold chain that she was wearing. The men on the motorcycle escaped with the 3-sovereign gold chain.
The senior citizen couple have filed a complaint with the Palladam police. A case has been registered in this regard and the police are investigating. Considering the steady increase in the number of motorcycle-borne thefts that are taking place in our city, the police have issued a warning asking the public especially senior citizens to be cautious.
