DND Flyway is Toll-Free. Lakhs of Delhi-Noida commuters cheer

New Delhi: The DND Flyway, which connects Delhi to Noida, will be toll-free from now.

The Allahabad High Court's decision to declare the eight-lane, 9 km long road toll-free comes two months after massive protests over the flyway.
.
Alleging corruption in the DND project, protesters blocked toll collection for two days, affecting traffic severely. An average of 1.5 lakh vehicles takes the route daily.

A group of Noida residents petitioned the court in 2012.

The expressway, which opened in 2001, considerably reduces the travel time between Delhi and Noida. At present, Rs. 30 is collected as the toll from each vehicle. On an average one and a half, lakh vehicles use the route.
