Although the UK has committed to leaving the EU, Mr. Fallon assured its allies that the British forces would not be turning a blind eye to the needs of its NATO counterparts across the water. He also urges representatives to treat the coming together of military powers against Russia as a serious military presence. The plan to counter Russian aggression and threats of nuclear warfare was first approved in July. Since then, troops, tanks, and other armaments have been sent to key strategic areas around Russia, specifically Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Additionally, the UK isn’t the only European power rushing to NATO’s call in deterring Russian powers to set aside their arms. France, Denmark, and Italy are also expected to join the four battle groups, which are being led by the US, Germany, UK, and Canada. They will be sending armed infantry, tanks, and drones as well.
Despite NATO’s commitment to keeping Russia in line, the former isn’t backing down from any threat. In fact, critics believe that the more pressure the Western forces push against Russia, the less Putin will desire to reduce his military drills and practices. Earlier this year, Putin already began holding nationwide evacuation scenarios, which prepared his citizens for an all-out attack from the US. He hasn’t stopped there, as his most recent move involved sending a Russian aircraft carrier that passed through the English Channel. It was en route to Syria in a show of force along the European shore.
