PWF, BJP to release poll manifesto soon

Leaders of the People's Welfare Front (PWF) and the BJP announced on Tuesday that they would be releasing the election manifesto soon. CPM state secretary G Ramakrishnan said the PWF's election manifesto was in its final stages and would be released within a few days.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday evening, Ramakrishnan said that the PWF had just completed it's fourth phase of campaigning. He reiterated that the coalition party would be a good alternative to the two big Dravidian parties.

"We have decided to form booth level committees in all the 234 assembly constituencies and conduct door to door campaigns," said Ramakrishnan. He also added that the election manifesto of the People's welfare front is in final state and the manifesto will be released in few days. Political parties will not be able to bribe people to get their votes, he added. He also pointed out that over the last 20 years, the Communist parties had aligned with both DMK and the AIADMK but they could not do much to ensure proper governing.

Ramakrishnan said that the review petition filed by the state government against GAIL laying pipelines across agricultural fields in Western Tamil Nadu was dismissed by the Supreme Court recently. He urged the state and Centre to protect the livelihood of farmers.

BJP national secretary H Raja, who addressed the media at the Coimbatore international airport on Tuesday, said that the party would release the election manifesto soon. It would include a plan for total prohibition in the state. "If the BJP comes to power, we will ensure that the sand quarries are run by the state government. The Samacheer Kalvi is a failure in the state, leading to the closure of 1300 state schools during the 2014-15 financial year. We will ensure all government schools follow the CBSE system," he said.
