Panneerselvam takes CM Jayalalithaa’s place for the third time

A press release from the Raj Bhavan dated 11th October was released late last evening. It stated that on the advice of the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa all the portfolios that were held by her were reallocated to Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam. The press release stated that under clauses (3) of Article 166 of the Constitution of India, the CM has transferred her portfolios namely Public, Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Forest Service, General Administration, District Revenue Officers, Police and Home to Panneerselvam. The press release also stated that Panneerselvam will also preside over the Cabinet meetings. This arrangement has been enforced on the advice of the CM herself and shall continue until she resumes her duties.
