The rains that lashed our city last afternoon and evening brought respite. As a result of the rains, the temperature too dropped in our city. However, the rains also brought with them a series of problems. To begin with traffic was thrown out of gear in several pockets in Coimbatore last evening. A majority of office goers (on their two wheelers) were on their way back home having called it a day at work. They found shelter under a tree or a man-made structure. Four-wheeler drivers too experienced visibility issues while driving. The roads in our city too were stagnated with water thus also making it difficult for pedestrians to walk.
To add on to these woos several parts in and around our city experienced power shut-downs due to the unexpected showers. Tiruppur and the surrounding areas faced power blackouts. The rains damaged the Palladam Sub Station. Currently, repair work is being carried out here.
