City-based bank employees arrested for speculating rumours on CM Jayalalitha’s health


Time and again, the police has issued several warnings asking the public to refrain from discussing the Chief Minister J Jayalalitha’s health. The police have been involved in arresting the rumour mongers, who have been speculating baseless news regarding CM's health condition. Today, two employees of Canara Bank, Thondamuthur Branch were arrested in the same lines by the City police. 

Ramesh (49) and Suresh (58) are residents of Ayan Nagar, Thondamuthur. The duo were employed at Canara Bank, Thondamuthur Branch. in the jewel-valuation department. It is reported that on the 7th of this month, Punitha Devi, who was nominated to be the contestant of Ward:No:9 in the local body elections, visited this branch. Ramesh and Suresh have discussed to Punitha Devi regarding some basless speculations regarding CM's health.

Again last Thursady, when Punitha Devi re-visisted the branch again. the duo were seen discussing similar rumours. Hence, she filed an official complaint with the police regarding the issue. Post the long Pooja holidays, the police carried out an investigation.and arrested the two employees. 

The accused were produced before the District Judicial Court No:6, today. Magistrate Rajavelu has ordered to keep them under judicial custody for 12 days and announced Oct 23rd as the date for next hearing.
