More than 600 Congress members gherao Somanur Railway Station to protest against Rahul Gandhi disqualification

The railway station gheraoing was held under the leadership of District President Manoharan. More than 300 Congress members gathered before the Somanur railway station and raised slogans against the central government. The protesters emphasized that the ruling party is slaying democracy despite condemning the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi.

In Sulur, the police charged and arrested more than 600 Congress cadres who tried to besiege the railway station to protest against the dismissal of Rahul Gandhi from the post of MP.

After the Surat court sentenced Wayanad Lok Sabha member Rahul Gandhi to two years in prison for defaming Prime Minister Modi, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has disqualified him from being a member of parliament. The Congress party members across the country are engaged in various stages of protests in various parts of all states.

As a part of this, the Congress party organized a train strike across Tamil Nadu.

Following this incident, the police arrested more than 300 people who tried to besiege and took them into custody at a private wedding hall. Commenting on this, District President Manoharan said "The ruling BJP government has committed a massacre of democracy."

Earlier, more than 100 policemen were engaged in security after the Congress party announced a rail strike.
