200 years old Udhagai – Colour paintings that attract on the roadside!

On the occasion of Ooty's 200th anniversary, the colour paintings painted on the main road sides are a visual feast for observers.



The Nilgiris: Roadsides have been painted by the district government and the tourism department.

Udhagai, popularly known as the Queen of the Hills, was introduced to the outside world for 200 years by The Coimbatore District Collector John Sullivan and built the city of Ooty.

Since then, important tourist attractions like botanical gardens have grown in popularity.

Currently, 30 lakh visitors visit the site each year. In this case, Ooty has been in existence for 200 years. The Tamil Nadu government has set aside Rs.10 crores to commemorate it as a government function. M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, will also attend the closing ceremony in May.



Following that, the retaining walls of Ooty town were painted and painted as murals so that tourists could learn about the Nilgiris district's natural scenery, animals, and heritage monuments.



Paintings of various wild animals, like elephants, tigers, deer, and bison, are being painted realistically near the District Collectorate, which is located on the road connecting Charing cross to Mysore.

The paintings attract a lot of locals and tourists and are enjoying them with interest.
