A three-day-old baby boy who was born at the Tirupur district government medical college hospital has been kidnapped and rescued safely. Murugesan, the dean of the medical college hospital has ordered that no one is allowed to carry the newborns except the mother.
Tirupur: Arjun Kumar and Kamalini, a couple from Orissa, gave birth to a baby boy at the Tirupur Government Medical College Hospital on July 22.
Esther, who was next to them, had undergone surgery and was undergoing treatment. He was assisted by a woman named Uma. He had also been helping Kamalini from time to time and had abducted the child last evening by hiding it in a bag.
The Tirupur South police, who registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by Arjun Kumar in this regard, conducted an investigation using CCTV footage and mobile phone numbers and arrested Uma's husband Vijay, who was staying in Ammapalayam area of Tiruppur.
It was revealed that Uma had falsely admitted to the Kallakurichi government hospital for treatment that she had given birth to a baby.
The Special Cell police, who rushed to the spot, arrested Uma and rescued the child. Uma, who hails from Kallakurichi district, had a love marriage to Vijay and was living in Tiruppur a year-and-a-half ago and was frustrated as she had aborted her foetus within three months of her pregnancy.
Following this, the rescued child was brought to Tirupur district government medical college hospital in an ambulance from Kallakurichi with the help of doctors with police protection and handed over to his parents.
Seeing the child, the couple from the North State embraced the child with tearful kisses. Following this, the Dean of Medical College Hospital, Murugesan said that the surveillance and security of the hospital will be strengthened following the incident that took place at the government medical college hospital twice.
He stated those who were admitted for delivery have been directed to bring and carry the baby after delivery only by the mother and hospital staff, and that no one, including relatives and helpers, will be allowed to carry the babies.
Arjun, the father of the rescued boy, said that he was very sad that the child had gone missing and he was happy that the child has now been found due to the continuous efforts of the police and thanked the police.
