Man Killed After Car Crashes into Median on Coimbatore–Mettupalayam Road

A 37-year-old private company employee from Coimbatore was killed after his car lost control and crashed into the median near the Ramakrishna Vidyalaya flyover on the Coimbatore–Mettupalayam Road early on Wednesday. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.


Coimbatore: A 37-year-old private company employee was killed after the car he was driving lost control and crashed into the median near the Ramakrishna Vidyalaya flyover on the Coimbatore–Mettupalayam Road in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sasikumar (37) of No:4 Veerapandi in Coimbatore. He was employed with Pricol and was travelling towards Mettupalayam in his when the accident occurred.

Police said the mishap took place while the vehicle was ascending the flyover nearRamakrishna Vidyalaya under the Periyanaickenpalayam Police Station limits. The driver allegedly lost control of the car, causing it to ram into the concrete median at high speed.



The impact severely damaged the front portion of the vehicle, and Sasikumar sustained grievous head injuries. Passers-by and motorists rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Personnel from the Periyanaickenpalayam Police Station reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. The damaged vehicle was later removed, and traffic on the stretch was restored.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
