A 55-year-old man and his wife were injured after a four-wheeler goods vehicle allegedly hit their scooter near the Peelamedu police station on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore. Police have registered a case and are investigating the driver.
Coimbatore: A couple sustained injuries after a four-wheeler goods vehicle allegedly hit their scooter on Avinashi Road near the Peelamedu police station in Coimbatore.
Police said Murugesan (55), a resident of Bankers Colony in Kaikola Palayam, was riding his scooter with his wife Manoranjitham (51) as pillion when the accident occurred on Saturday evening.
As they were proceeding along Avinashi Road, a four-wheeler goods vehicle allegedly driven by Manikandan (32), a resident of Krishna Colony in Uppilipalayam, hit the scooter from behind near the Peelamedu police station, police said.
The impact threw the couple off the scooter onto the road. Murugesan sustained injuries to his right wrist and abrasions on his elbow, while Manoranjitham suffered injuries to her right forehead and elbow.
Bystanders rescued the injured couple and shifted them to a hospital in a private ambulance. They are undergoing treatment.
Special Sub-Inspector Amos Chandran of the Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case and is investigating the accident.
