Rs 2,000 note will no longer be legal tender after September 30 - RBI

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to withdraw ₹2,000 notes. Accordingly, people will be able to deposit the Rs 2,000 notes in their bank accounts by September 30, 2020, and exchange them in banks.


New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that Rs 2,000 notes will be withdrawn.

On November 8, 2015, the old Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes were demonetised and the new Rs 2,000 notes were introduced.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to withdraw Rs 2,000 notes. Accordingly, there will be no more Rs 2,000 notes in circulation in India. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has advised banks not to issue Rs 2,000 notes to the general public using banking services.

It has also been announced that the public can deposit the Rs. 2,000 notes in their bank accounts by September 30 and transfer them to banks.
