Youth gets five-year rigorous imprisonment for raping four-year-old girl at Karamadai

A 21-year-old man was on Tuesday sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a four-year-old girl at his house at Sashthiri Nagar at Karamadai on the outskirts of the city in December 2013.

The district Mahila court here awarded the punishment to C Aravind alias Aravindasamy, who worked as a cleaner of a school van.

The victim was an LKG student with a private school when the incident took place. Her father, 32, is a wall painter, while mother is a house wife. The couple has another six-month-old baby girl.

C Aravind alias Aravindasamy lived with his family near the girl's house. On December 24, 2013, the girl was at home and her father had gone out for work. Around 8am, Aravind had gone to the their house and told the girl's mother that he was fan of actor Ajithkumar and the fans from Karamadai had planned to install a digital flex banner for the Tamil film Veeram, starring Ajithkumar. So, the mother had agreed to send her daughter along with Aravind. The girl was taken to Aravind's house where he raped the girl. The girl returned home crying 45 minutes later. The girl told her mother about the incident and immediately the locals gathered in front of the house and started to beat Aravind severely. He sustained severe head injuries and was admitted to the government hospital at Mettupalayam.

After getting treatment, he was kept in an ambulance. However, the locals dragged him out of the ambulance and beat him again severely. Then he was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. Based on the complaint, the Thudiyalur all-women police registered a case against Aravind under Sections 3 (a), 4 and 5 (m) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and he was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
