Rs 44 crore fine imposed on 4 stone quarries in Kinathukadavu - District Collector

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar said that following complaints of violation of rules in quarries in Coimbatore district, the authorities are conducting an inspection and a fine of Rs 44 crore has been imposed on four stone quarries involved in the violation in the surrounding areas of Kinathukadavu.


Coimbatore: A fine of Rs 44 crore has been imposed on four stone quarries involved in violation of rules in and around Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district.

In Coimbatore, stone quarries are functioning in Kinathukadavu, Madukkarai and other areas. Various political parties and farmers have been protesting against the illegal operation of various stone quarries and smuggling of mineral resources to other states.

The Coimbatore district administration has imposed a fine of Rs 44 crore on four stone quarries for indulging in violations.

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar said,

As many as 140 quarries in Coimbatore district are under the supervision of revenue and mining department officials. The authorities are imposing heavy fines on violators.

Officials are investigating the violations in seven quarries in Pollachi. Action will be taken against them based on the report of the revenue department and the geology and mining department.

Accordingly, a fine of Rs 44 crore has been imposed on four stone quarries involved in violations in areas including Kinathukadavu.
